De standaardafwijzingen en afsluitingen van ondersteuningszaken

WAT IN DIT HOOFDSTUK WORDT AANGETOOND 

Deze repository bevat 137 bewaarde originele schermafbeeldingen en 1,505 gecontroleerde klachten van slachtoffers waarin de geautomatiseerde afhandeling van supporttickets door Valve gedetailleerd wordt beschreven. Hieruit blijkt dat wanneer accounts worden gehackt via OpenID-omleiding of ongeautoriseerde API sleutelgeneratie, Steam Support systematisch gebruikmaakt van gestandaardiseerde standaardafwijzingen zonder technisch onderzoek. Door het herstel van items of het vrijgeven van audittrails categorisch te weigeren, schuift het platform de volledige aansprakelijkheid voor structurele authenticatiefouten af op de houders van gehackte accounts.

Valve beweert in marketinguitingen en forumberichten dat het een actief handhavingsbeleid voert ter bescherming van de veiligheid van gebruikers. In de praktijk krijgen slachtoffers van accountkaping, API omleidingszwendel en geautomatiseerde voorraaduitputting te maken met een geïnstitutionaliseerde, ‘kopieer-en-plak’-weigermachine die tickets afsluit zonder enig menselijk onderzoek.

Alle schermafbeeldingen zijn opnames van derden. Het auteursrecht en de inhoud blijven bij de respectieve auteurs en platforms (Reddit-gebruikers, auteurs van de Steam-community, Trustpilot-recensenten, X en YouTube-gebruikers). In ticketreactie nr.1cp582i geeft „Roger”, een medewerker van de Steam-helpdesk, schriftelijk toe dat aanvallers legitieme transacties via API binnen milliseconden annuleren en vervangen door gekloonde bots, maar hij weigert de items te herstellen en adviseert het slachtoffer om een „lokale pc-technicus” in te schakelen.

Een slachtoffer verstrekte de SteamID64 van de accounts van de hacker tijdens de blokkeringsperiode voor daghandel op 7-. De ondersteuningsmedewerkers „Artem“ en „Ilya“ weigerden de gestolen items te blokkeren, onder verwijzing naar de schaarste aan virtuele items, en sloten het ticket af met een automatisch gegenereerd standaardantwoord.

Precies een week voordat Valve zijn controversiële ‘7-’-afkoelingsperiode voor daghandel in Counter-Strike-items instelde, ontdekte de handelsgemeenschap de eerste concrete voorbeelden van de **Steam WebAPI-exploit via omleiding van verkeer**. Aanvallers hebben websessies gekaapt om een ongeautoriseerde API-sleutel te genereren op `steamcommunity.com/dev/apikey` zonder dat de mobiele 2FA dit bevestigt, waardoor bots transacties in realtime kunnen annuleren en omwisselen.

**Waarschuwing in de voorjaars2018:** *"De oplichters kunnen dit ruilaanbod automatisch detecteren en zullen het op jouw account afwijzen, omdat ze jouw Steam API-sleutel hebben. De oplichtingsbot stuurt je nu een ruilaanbod voor dezelfde skins... en je merkt het verschil niet eens!"*
